Replacement baskets and screens can extend the service life of existing industrial strainers where original elements are damaged, worn, corroded, blocked, obsolete or difficult to source.

Strainer elements operate in a demanding environment. Over time, repeated cleaning, differential pressure, corrosion, erosion, vibration and mechanical handling can weaken or damage the basket or screen.
Replacement may be required when perforated material becomes distorted, mesh tears or separates from its support, welds crack, handles become damaged, sealing surfaces wear, or corrosion reduces the mechanical integrity of the element.
Replacement is also common where the original manufacturer no longer supports the equipment, the model has become obsolete, imported spares have long lead times, or process conditions have changed and the original element no longer provides the required performance.

Reverse Engineering
Original drawings are useful, but they are not always available. In many cases a replacement element can be reproduced from an existing basket or screen, a dimensional sketch, clear photographs or a set of measured dimensions.
Important details include overall diameter and length, rim or flange dimensions, sealing surfaces, handles, support rings, perforation size, mesh construction, flow direction and how the element locates inside the housing.
Where practical, supplying the existing element to our workshop provides the best opportunity to verify dimensions and construction details before manufacture.
A replacement can reproduce the original construction or, where appropriate, be adapted to revised service requirements.
Robust perforated construction for coarse straining, support baskets and general industrial solids retention.
Perforated support combined with woven wire mesh where finer particle retention is required.
Additional support rings, heavier backing or structural reinforcement for demanding differential-pressure duties.
Special handles, rims, flanges, collars, end caps, sealing arrangements and installation features can be reproduced.
Stainless steel grades may be selected for corrosion resistance, cleanliness and long-term industrial service where compatible with the process.
Carbon steel and other project-specified materials can be considered where suitable for the fluid, corrosion environment, temperature and mechanical requirements.
Sometimes the best solution is to reproduce the original element as closely as possible. In other cases, the replacement provides an opportunity to address a recurring problem or changed process condition.
Any change should be reviewed against the strainer housing, process conditions and required performance rather than assuming the existing design can simply be altered without consequence.
Good dimensional and service information helps the replacement to be matched more accurately to the existing equipment.
