Standard 304 and 316 stainless steels are suitable for many industrial filtration applications, but some services require greater resistance to corrosion or higher mechanical strength.
2205 is a duplex stainless steel combining austenitic and ferritic phases. It is commonly considered for chloride-bearing environments because of its resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion, while also providing substantially higher mechanical strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels.
These properties can make 2205 attractive for large strainer baskets, mechanically demanding screens, seawater systems, high-flow applications and installations where corrosion resistance and structural durability are both important.

2205 perforated sheet is not generally stocked in the same range of hole sizes, pitches, sheet dimensions and thicknesses as common 304 or 316 stainless steel.
Depending on the specification, material may need to be made to order, custom drilled or sourced subject to minimum quantities and additional lead time.
